After LASIK compensation for corneal aberrations tend to increase
Filed in archive LASIK News on June 17, 2010

© Look Into My EyesAs per a study, it has been found out that after myopic surgery, internal aberrations of the eye tend to compensate for corneal aberrations. 57 patients were studied preoperatively and three months postoperatively for comparing corneal aberrations and total ocular aberrations of eyes undergoing myopic LASIK.
The measurements were used for deciding whether sudden decoupling of higher order aberrations due to LASIK unlocked a compensatory process which tended to reduce the amount of induced aberrations after surgery.
In the study it was found out that total higher order aberrations tend to increase by factor of 1.77 whereas corneal aberrations tend to increase by a factor of 2.47 whereas total spherical aberrations increased by a factor of 1.46 and corneal spherical aberration increased by 2.64.
