Eye Surgery and Sentinel For Dogs

Eye Surgery and Sentinel For Dogs

We love our pets and do everything for their welfare but like human beings, they also develop eye problems. Even canines face problem of falling eyesight and like humans their vision can be restored using refractive laser eye surgery.

As per Dr. Gemensky-Metzler:

We do many eye surgeries on animals. In dogs, cataract removal is the most common surgery that we do. The procedure is called phacoemulsification and is very similar to the procedure done in humans. Success rates for long-term vision improvement are about 90% or better.

Though refractive error is uncommon in dogs but in certain cases where dogs are far sighted or near sighted, corrective contact lenses or Doggles with corrective lenses are used occasionally.

45.6 million U.S. households own pets and the success rate of vision improvement following cataract surgery in dogs is more than 90%. This calls for further research in the area of surgery for pets.

Dogs are even prone to heartworm disease and fleas and to set it straight, Sentinel For Dogs can be administered. It is a prescription pet med which can even control adult hookworm and whipworm.
