Seeing What Develops: The FDA LASIK Quality of Life Study
Filed in archive LASIK News on February 21, 2010
The FDA's LASIK Quality of Life Study is already underway, however before considering refractive surgery it's a good idea to examine the statistics so you can decide if it's the right choice for you.
Many people put off elective surgery, waiting until new procedures have been tested and perfected. For those of you putting up with glasses while you wait for the results to roll in, the U.S. government is in the process of preparing just the information you're looking for.
Over the next few years, the study will:
- Make a detailed analysis of the USAEyes CORE LASIK patient survery on the FDA's website
- Examine the quality of life and satisfaction after LASIK of patients treated at the Navy Refractive Surgery Center in San Diego, CA.
- Ending in 2012 engage in a multi-center clinical trial studying the impact on quality of life in the population at large, also with attention to sub-populations at risk for complications.
Keep checking the Lasik-Weblog and the FDA website for further information as the study proceeds.
