Quality first
First and foremost, select the best surgeon. Full Stop! Don't think about price, because a surgeon who can meet your expectations, who has proper certifications and a good track record of eye-healthy, satisfied patients is well worth the money. If you can't afford the optimal surgeon, it's probably a good idea to forgo LASIK surgery until you can afford it, because you don't want to risk your vision on a "LASIK special" or a cut-rate doctor.

Conversely, don't believe you're getting the best surgeon just because they charge an arm and a leg for you eyes! While excellent surgeons are in high demand and may charge more for their time and expertise, remember, too, that some surgeons, knowing this, will inflate their prices to give the impression that they are more exclusive or sought-after.

It's best to check out your prospective surgeon's reputation thoroughly to see if he or she merits the price. In future posts we'll discuss the criteria for choosing the very best surgeon possible for your refractive procedure, and we'll break down some of the costs associated with LASIK.
